The Great Pumpkin

When I was little, we went to the pumpkin patch every year. My dad being notoriously cheap, we were on strict limits for how big a pumpkin we could get. So when I went to pick up pumpkins for carving for the first time in 15 years, and I saw that not only had genetic engineering done great things for pumpkin size, but they were all the same price, I went a little nuts.
Subsequently I learned that maybe it was not unwillingness to part with an additional 50 cents that caused my dad to restrict our pumpkin purchases, but pragmatism. Carving large pumpkins is hard. Power tools had to be called in. But I got my giant ass pumpkin.
