I have played every single game in the Civ series, from the original on, religiously for what must be thousands of hours.
I hated Civ5. Like, I was never able to enjoy it even a little. I can't understand why other people's reviews of it are balanced instead of "Oh my god they ruined the Civ series".
I can't even explain why. It was just a sense that everything was unbalanced, that nothing really made sense in game (as in people declaring war sort of randomly), there wasn't much to work for, and nothing gave any sense of accomplishment. Some things were too slow, other things were too fast, and did I mention I hated the art?
I got it pretty early, first month it came out, so maybe it was just a not-yet-patched-enough problem and I should try again.
