Library fail

Never has the library's policy of having the same 3-week checkout period for all books been more noxious. The Evolution of Childhood appears to be a fantastic book, but it's 700 extremely dense pages, plus references and appendices. It could maybe be read in three weeks if I did nothing else. And I can't renew it because there's a waiting list. I assume everyone else has this problem as well, so the library is going to end up paying 10 times the shipping costs because we can only read 70 pages per go.
